Josef Goebbels' propaganda method is alive and well. The big lie theory (attributed to Goebbels but possibly having originated with Hitler) goes like this: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." It truly doesn't matter who came up with the idea, since both Goebbels and Hitler were evil enough to implement it towards the "Final Solution to the Jewish Question." Fast-forward to 2026, and the methodology remains the same, except that the big lie has become a series of big lies building upon each other to further demonize Israel and the Jews.
It has been a progressive indoctrination of the masses that started not too long after the birth of the modern state of Eretz Yisrael on May 14, 1948. It can be divided into four false accusations in this order: Colonization, Occupation, Apartheid and Genocide. Each of these lies sets the stage for the next one to further demonize and delegitimize Israel and Diaspora Jews. Why are they being propagated, and more importantly, how can they be debunked historically, geo-politically AND biblically?
Colonization: This accusation of colonization goes back to the 1960s, when Yasir Arafat was set-up into the Middle East region by the former USSR to destabilize that very region. The Mirriam-Webster definition for colonization is either A: "The establishing of a colony subjugation of a people or area especially as an extension of state", or B: Migration to and settlement in an inhabited or uninhabited area." It is interesting to note that both French and British empires have colonized large sections of the planet over time without anyone–except possibly for the people being colonized–blinking an eye. Israel colonizes and the whole world is up in arms! But is Israel truly colonizing?
Yasir Arafat was convinced of it in a speech at the UN in 1974 when he said, "Just as colonialism heedlessly used the wretched, the poor, the exploited as mere inert matter with which to build and to carry out settler colonialism, so too were destitute, oppressed European Jews employed on behalf of world imperialism and of the Zionist leaders. European Jews were transformed into the instruments of aggression -- they became the elements of settler colonialism intimately allied to racial discrimination .”
Truly, it is only colonization when the land is not yours to start with. Consider that Israel has been recognized historically, politically and most certainly biblically. Let's start with the Balfour Declaration.
Little did Lord Arthur Balfour (1848-1930) know when he penned his declaration, that much of the world would be in an uproar about it more than a century later. His short letter to Lord Rothschild on behalf of the Jewish people became a pillar in the foundation of the modern state of Israel. The 1917 Balfour Declaration established that because of the “historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine," The Jewish people were entitled to return to the area. The statement was unequivocal: “His Majesty’s Government views with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object.”
The Balfour Declaration is a document that should have been foundational in the world’s recognition of Israel’s right for self-determination within the boundaries of her own historical and biblical land of Eretz Yisrael. It was followed by another equally important but lesser known agreement including the original Balfour text, known as the San Remo Resolution, where the Mandate for Palestine was drawn together as a legal document (land boundaries were decided four years later.) As a result of the San Remo Resolution being drafted, Great Britain ended-up being responsible for the drawing of the Mandate and land boundaries for Palestine.
This became later known as the “British Mandate for Palestine," and led to the 1947 United Nations vote in favor of Resolution 181 and the partitioning of Palestine between Jews and Arabs. It must be noted that the term "Palestine" as used in the Balfour Declaration and San Remo Resolution, is merely the name of a Middle East geographical boundary known as the Land of Israel today. The word then was not as politically charged as it is today, and it certainly didn't describe stollen land by Jews. In fact, much of the this swampy, mosquitoe-infested land of Israel was owned by absentee owners from the Ottoman Empire and was purchased by Jews for a lot of money. On May 14, 1948, under the leadership of David Ben Gurion, one day before the end of the British Mandate, Israel became a modern nation. Within hours five neighboring Arab countries declared war on the newborn Jewish state, and Israel has been in a state of war ever since.
Lord Balfour understood the connection between the people and the land. The biblical precedent is even stronger when we consider all that God's counsel has to say about Israel beyond the commonly accepted right to the land through Abraham,Isaac and Jacob (Genesis 12:1-3, 15 :18-21, 17:7-8, 25:5-6, 26;3, 28:3-4, 35:9-15.) Consider these truths from the Bible:
1. Jacob’s descendants would regain control of Israel – Amos 9:14-15
2. Israel would be brought back to life – Ezekiel 37:10-14
3. Isaiah spoke of an Israel being reborn in one day – Isaiah 66:7-8
4. Israel would be re-established as a united nation – Ezekiel 37:21-22
5. The second Israel would be more impressive than the first – Jeremiah 16:14-15
6. Ezekiel predicted when Israel would be re-established – Ezekiel 4:3-6
7. The people of Israel would return to “their land” – Ezekiel 34:13
8. God would watch over the people of Israel – Jeremiah 31:10
9. Israel’s army would be disproportionately powerful – Leviticus 26:3, 7-8
10.The fortunes of the people of Israel would be restored – Deuteronomy 30:3-5
Just when we thought that after the evil carnage by Hamas on October 7, 2023, the world would finally acknowledge Israel as being the victim and not the perpetrator, the opposite took place. This was facilitated by the Big Lies conditioning that continues to this day. This accusation of colonization was the first step, but it was only the beginning of a "Big Lies" campaign "à la Goebbels." The next lie has to do with occupation and will be the subject of Part 2.
